March 2025 Monthly WrapUp

Hey yall! March 2025 has been quite the experience to live through, so much has happened to me these last few weeks. My personal life has been a neverending emotional rollercoaster, and I'm glad March is coming to an end.

This month I've been trying my hand at Bullet Journaling more, working out at the gym, taking Lent (Im Anglican, btw) very seriously, and of course, reading alot more (on account that I have more free time to do so).
That being said means that I've been feeling sad due to life; had more muscle pains; not to mention the fact that I've been intermittent fasting. Although it's been a rather tough month for me I've had tons of fun too. Watched a bunch of tv, and FINALLY read books this year.

Firstly, the films and TV I watched this month
[Rewatch] Down Low(2023) ★★★✩✩
[Rewatch] Shrek(2001) ★★★★★
Star Wars: Tales of The Jedi {ep 1} ★★★★✩
[Rewatch] Bojack Horseman (S2 ep. 5 - 12) ★★★★✩
(Pretty recently at work i meet someone with a Bojack Horseman tattoo)
Yellowjackets (S3 ep. 3-5) ★★★★★
[Rewatch] Sailor Moon (S1 ep. 4-6) ★★★★★

And Lastly, The Books
I started this month off reading a book from last month that I wasn't able to finish within a reasonable time. That being said, I somehow I was able to finish the last book in the Trials of Apollo series by Rick Riordan, and oh boy has this installment been a huge step in the right direction for this overarching universe Uncle Rick has invented. His ability to write compelling adventures that still sounds and feels like the original series, and has humour akin to that series its truly astounding. It needs to be commended and celebrated.

Apollo as a protagonist is the best decision that Rick could have done in my opinion. Seeing Apollo/Lester grow throughout the series, becoming more human and experiencing a togetherness that no other godlike being in this universe has previously had was very refreshing to read.

This being the first time in the series' history that a protagonist is openly bisexual and although, we had Nico Di Angelo, that character has otherwise always been a side. I can't imagine how big the impact of this book series could have on young readers. Seeing themselves represented in fiction in a way I myself didn't see growing up and reading the original series. It's great.

This qoute in my opinion could be seen as the emblematic thesis statement for this entire series of books. A string of noteworthy lines about this book series' main themes. Namely; the nature of godhood and immortality within this world, the coming-of-age of a teenage boy, and the inevitable grief that a demigod has to face. I say this with no exaggeration - this middle-grade book series is far greater than it might seem on the surface.

I loved this book series' ending. It certainly wasn't a rushed ending like how Rick Riordan's other series' last books have been. Though, the plot wasn't as thought trough as the rest of the books in this series.

The Trials of Apollo: The Tower of Nero by Rick Riordan - ★★★✰✩

DC Teen Titans: Robin (2023) ★★★✩✩
I've been a fan of this particular run of Teen Titans comics for ages now. It's got all the
usual elements of what makes this team fun to read, with the added modern setting this series takes place in. I felt as if this installment had a great lineup for the team (with exception of classic members like Bumble Bee, Tera, and Cyborg).

This being the third installment in this series, I went into reading it with far lower expectations, and I'm glad to say that it far exceeded those expectations. Character inclusions like Dick Grayson was a welcomed change to this new team as he is an original founding member of the Teen Titans. Mixing the old Canon with this new story.

Thank you so much for all the love and support you all have given me on my return to making bookish content. I've been loving interacting with you all, it's been exhilarating <3

The books I had to read for my Grade 12 English class + MY THOUGHTS ON 'The Tragedy of Macbeth'

Author's Note Hey guys, this post will be posted sometime within January/Febuary of 2022 but parts of this post I'd initially started writing as far back as August 2020. Amist both my Matric year(arguably my most stressful schooling year I've had thus far) and amist the shifting lockdown restrictions happening in the world and the ever increasing number of Covid-19 cases - and witnessing friends and relatives of mine falling ill (and eventually me included). When I first started writing this post I wasn't sure whether or not it would ever get posted, there was even a time during 2021 when I decided to go completely off the grid - nearly deleted this blog as well... but something stopped me... thinking about this blog and just how cathartic these posts are for me, I guess that stopped me (ofcourse now I'm back on most social media again). I'm not saying any of this for you to pity me, I'm merely saying this for you to get a glimpse into my thought process. So...

Quick Fire Reviews ⏱️πŸ”₯

So, this is a new thing I'm trying to do on the blog. I hope you guys like this new idea, and I hope I keep up with this.              The Thunderhead : This is the second book in the Arc of the Scythe trilogy.  From the Goodreads reviews that I saw online most people either fall under liking/disliking the book. I for one, really liked this book alot more that the first book.                     Rating: 4.5/5                 The Toll : This is the third book in the Arc of the Scythe trilogy.  This was the best book in the series. Everything from the plot to the characters to even the world got elevated to a new height in this book. I would have wanted a sequel series or a different series within the same world, but I loved the way the series wrapped up so well.                    ...
